Parque del Amor (Love Park) and El Beso (The Kiss)
Lima’s Parque del Amor, or “Love Park,” is filled with brightly colored mosaic tile and flowing lines. It is, in other words, something akin to what one would expect from Antoni Gaudí. I’ve featured Mr. Gaudí work before back in 2013, when I did a three-part series on his incredible masterpiece the Sagrada Familia (Sagrada Familia — The Exterior, Sagrada Familia — Interior Part 1, and Sagrada Familia — Interior Part 2). Some day I’ll have to blog about his other famous creation Parc Grüell. But all resemblance aside, Mr. Gaudí had little to do with Love Park other than possibly supply a little inspiration.
Love Park sits high above the Pacific, and the view from up here is spectacular. Here, for instance, is San Lorenzo Island in the background:
The beach below is also popular with the surfing crowd:
Next to Love Park is the most visited lighthouse in the area, Faro la Marina. Here you can see both la Marina and a paraglider framed by lush palms:
The most famous residents of Love Park are a pair in an eternal embrace. The statue is called “El Bezo“, or, “The Kiss”:
Here’s another view of El Bezo:
I leave you now with two final images from the park:

The Magic Water Tour of Lima — With Video!
In an upscale Lima neighborhood lies a park of immense beauty that sports a nightly cascading show of fountains, lights, music, and laser projection. So, in addition to today’s photo-essay, I’ll be giving you the added treat of a video of the park and it’s nightly fountain-and-light show. That video will be at the end of today’s blog post.
The fountains are interactive, in that visitors can walk beneath the arched jets of a water “tunnel,” or stand amidst multi-colored columns of water that jut upward from the ground. You’ll see what I mean in the aforementioned video.
The park is a big draw with the locals and incredibly busy even though this visit was on a Wednesday evening. We even ran across a couple who chose this venue for their wedding.
And then there is that beautiful crescendo of colorful lights playing against the fountains.
After cruising around the park be prepared for the nightly laser show using fountains of water as a cinematic screen. The show runs for approximately two hours.

Finally, here’s my video of Parque de la Reserva and El Circuito Mágico del Agua:
