I’m SYNDICATED . . .

. . . sort of.  Well, not quite.  Not even almost.  It sounds good, though.

But . . . I was today featured on Karen Wojcik Berner’s weekly Flash Fiction Fridays feature.  Karen recently asked for material, and I sent to her a piece I’d run sometime in the past.  Yes, it’s that old classic tale of Paris in 1482, shortly after the unfortunate demise of Quasimodo.   Alas, I’m getting ahead of this pun-filled groaner . . . er, I mean a real fun-filled loaner . . . so I’ll just point you to the rest of this borrowed tale (which Karen categorized as, “A Real Humdinger:”

We Have a Winner, and It’s . . .

. . . Jerry Maune.  Like the author of your favorite blog (I mean this one), Jerry is also a retired air traffic controller who served in both the military and the FAA.  Indeed, he started in the same branch of the military a mere five months after I did.  And, no, I do not know Jerry personally.  So, no collusion there.  He won fair and square using the same clues available to you all.

Jerry’s (correct) guess, by the way, was the famous Ghost Ranch in New Mexico.  Don’t bother looking it up, as I will give you the full low-down (as well as some more photographs) on Friday’s blog.

As for what clue or clues tipped it for Jerry, I don’t really know.  (Care to weigh in on that, Jerry?)

But when you take all the clues together you get:  Cerro Pedernal (Flint Hill in Spanish).  Georgia referred to the incomparable Georgia O’Keeffe.  Mentions of art were another O’Keeffe clue as to her chosen vocation.  The numerous mentions of paranormal, haunting, etc., led toward the name of this week’s destination, the “Ghost” in Ghost Ranch.  Oh, and that guy’s favorite salad dressing, the one who might have lived in that old, deserted ranch house?  Ranch dressing, of course.

Still Time to Win! Free eBooks for Your Kindle or Nook!

Well, this is embarrassing.  I was expecting copies of Decisions and The Globe to have found a new home aboard some lucky winner’s Kindle, Nook, or Kindle- or Nook-enabled device using the free Kindle or Nook reading app.

Alas, much to this mystery writer’s chagrin, nobody successfully navigated Monday’s sea of clues.  So, today the clues will be a bit more specific and direct.  View the captions carefully, and take nothing you read at face value.  Click on the individual images to view larger versions.

And, by all means, somebody please figure out this mystery.  I really want to find these two fine books a deserving home, and I’m sure the suspense is building out there.

Rules are located at this link: on Monday’s blog (along with Monday’s clues).

Unsuccessful guesses so far:  Taos, New Mexico (submitted by two blog readers).  A good guess, but not quite good enough.

Now for today’s clues (good luck):
