54 Days at Sea — Trabzon, Turkey

Trabzon, Turkey

M.S. Prinsendam arrived at the Turkish Black Sea port of Trabzon on April 21, the day after bidding farewell from Batumi, Georgia. The day was cloudy with intermittent rain, so I didn’t get a whole lot of photography in that day. Even the views from the port were a bit uninspiring:

And here’s a view of the town taken from the decks of the M.S. Prinsendam:

Off the ship and walking the streets we found this pedestrian shopping area:

A interesting place for shoppers was the Avrupali Pazari (Russian Bazaar), although a far cry from the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul:

Of course, it wouldn’t be Turkey without a gold outlet:

In Trabzon is a statue of the first president of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who is also known as the founder of the Republic of Turkey (1923) following the defeat and eventual dissolution of the Ottoman Empire (1922).
