Random Photo Week — Clouds, Cactii, Cars, and Clues… to the Mystery Destination

Triumph TR6

Back for another try at this week’s Mystery Destination Quiz? I’ll be revealing the answer tomorrow, but if you’ve figured it out beforehand just leave a comment. Before we get to today’s clues and destination photos (there will be four for you today), let’s continue with this week’s other random subjects: Dramatic Skies, Automobiles, and Desert Color. We’ll start with some cactus color:

El Paso Desert Flora

And transition an El Paso desert sunset:

I Love My Backyard View

Let’s take a look at another favorite car. I once owned a roadster version of this next automobile, which I drove for a decade or so:

Early MGB GT

Hmmm…. I notice both of today’s automobiles are English in origin. And both originate from the 1960s. I wonder if that’s a clue to this week’s Mystery Destination? Or were they meant to deceive? Just in case, I’ll give you three automobile(?) hints in today’s clue list:

  • Automobile Clue #1: Mini Moke
  • Automobile(?) Clue #2: Rover
  • Automobile Clue #3: KAR 120C
    • Character One (referring to KAR 120C): “I know every nut and bolt. I built it myself!”
    • Character Two’s reply: “Then you’re just the man I need. It keeps overheating in traffic. Perhaps you’d care to advise me.”
  • Remember the clue earlier this week about featured numbers? Try this infamous exchange:
    • Protagonist: “Who are you?”
    • Antagonist: “The new Number Two.”
    • Protagonist: “Who is Number One?”
    • Antagonist: “You are Number Six.”
    • Protagonist: “I am not a number. I am a free man!”
    • Antagonist: [Hearty, diabolical laughter]
  • The ending of this hit show was so controversial that the star/creator/producer had to flee his home country and relocate to Switzerland.
  • “Be seeing you.” Tomorrow, that is, for the Big Reveal.

Random Photo Week — Desert Flowers, Sunsets, and the Mystery Destination

A Recent El Paso Sunset as Seen from my Backyard

Figured out this week’s Mystery Destination yet? I’ll present some more hints and photos at the end of today’s article in case you haven’t. In the meantime, here are more random photos of this week’s other subjects: Dramatic Skies, Desert Flowers, and Automobiles. If you think you’ve guessed this week’s Mystery Destination, leave me a comment. Otherwise, look for the answer on Saturday. Let’s begin with a car which may or may not be a clue to the location of the Mystery Destination:

Spot Reserved for oo7’s Aston Martin DBS

Now let’s balance out that English finesse with some classic American muscle:

1971 Mustang Mach 1 — Diamonds Are Forever?

More desert flora:

El Paso Desert Flower

Now for today’s clues and more photos to help you in figuring out this week’s Mystery Destination:

  • This village is arguably the star of a hit television series
  • This series featured many numbers

Rifleman’s Rifle Video — 1,000 Hits and Counting

I just this afternoon passed a milestone of sorts.  My popular YouTube video on how to spin-cock a full-size Model 1892 rifle as well as the Model 1892-based Rossi Ranch Hand just hit 1,000 views.  Many thanks to all who viewed that video and helped me reach the 1,000-views mark.  As you’ll recall, that video was produced for my blog post Firearms — Television Westerns from the 1950s.

Rifleman’s Rifle (made by Mike DiMuzio using a Rossi M92 rifle with 20″ barrel) and Rossi Ranch Hand Pistol

The Rossi Ranch Hand is stock straight from the box, but the Rifleman’s Rifle is a customized Rossi M92 specially modified by Mike DiMuzio of North Carolina.

I’m so please with what Mike‘s product that I’ll be sending to him another rifle for the same treatment — an earlier beautiful pre-safety Interarms/Rossi Model 92 chambered for the .45 Colt black powder cartridge.  More on that rifle in a later blog post.

Specially Constructed Rifleman’s “Loop” Lever with Trigger-Tripping Set Screw

Thanks Mike.  This rifle is just a blast, and I’ve yet to fire it.  I practice spin-cocking this thing nearly every night just before retiring.  It is indeed, as Mike calls it, great “Rifle Therapy.”

My other video for my blog post on El Paso’s Chihuahuas Baseball Team and our new Southwestern University Ballpark, hasn’t been nearly as successful, having garnered only 31 hits since it’s posting nearly six weeks ago.  Oh, well.  That’s life at the ball game.
