Luchita Lunch in Lima

Restaurant Luchita

Restaurant Luchita

After a long day watching monks cast themselves off cliffs, and traipsing about ancient pre-Columbian pyramids, it was time to eat.  Our tour was taken to Restaurante Luchita for some authentic Peruvian cuisine.  It’s a charming restaurant with several individual rooms capable of handling various party sizes.  Here you can see our group’s table:

And, as I wandered about the restaurant, I came across anther party getting ready to chow down:

You may notice that in our party there are few people seated.  I wonder where they could have been?

As for the food, you can tell how good it was because I forgot to photograph it.  I don’t recall precisely what we ate, but both Ursula and I have fond memories of the experience.  Overall, it’s a place I highly recommend, especially after hiking to the top of the Temple of the Sun.

Today brings to a close our visit to Pachacamac, and next week will take our final look at Lima before reboarding the Grand Princess and heading north toward Puntarenas, Costa Rica, and an exciting adventure cruising up the crocodile-infested waters of the Tárcoles River.

Exploring Templo del Sol (the Temple of the Sun)

Temple of the Sun

Temple of the Sun

Unlike most of the buildings in Pachacamac, Templo del Sol wasn’t constructed by the Ichma.  The “Temple of the Sun” came a short while later, after the A.D. 1440 fall of the Ichma Culture to the Inca Empire.

It’s interesting to note the detailed construction that went into building this site, using both adobe and stone.

The climb to the top of the hill upon which the Temple of the Sun sits rewards the hiker with some really nice views of the surrounding area.
