After our boat tour around Khao Phing Kan (James Bond Island) it was time to head out to the small “floating” fishing village of Ko Panyi, which is also spelled Koh Panyee. It’s a fun stop, so it’s definitely worth your time if your Phang Nga Bay tour makes a stop here. Here you’ll find many shops and restaurants catering to the tourist crowd.
There is lots of space for many tourist boats to dock at the pier, but the boats pull away to make room for more as you go shopping:
Once you climb out of your boat, it’s an easy, gently sloping ramp up into the village:
Once you’re inside, much of the village venues are connected by covered walkways:
After our stay here we headed back to Phuket Island where, as we prepared to go back to the ship, we stopped to view Patong Beach, Phuket’s main resort area:
As you can see from the image above, Patong Beach has recovered quite nicely from the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami that so devastated the area, killing 259 people in this province alone.
