Circumnavigating New Zealand — Tendering into Akaroa


Majestic Princess anchored off Akaroa

On 13 March 2019 Majestic Princess arrived into Akaroa. We would return there aboard Monarch of the Seas on 10 March 2020, but on that trip we traveled to Christchurch. So, this week and next we’ll talk a photographic stroll around this beautiful, charming little fishing village, and the week after we’ll take in the sights around Christchurch.

Since Akaroa is a shallow port, Majestic Princess anchored offshore and we tendered to the dock:

From the dock you’ll find a great view of the Akaroa Head Lighthouse:

Akaroa was initially founded by the French in 1838. To this day the area retains some of that French heritage, right down to the naming of the streets:

Circumnavigating New Zealand — Inside the Dunedin Railway Station

On Monday we viewed the exterior of the beautiful Dunedin Railway Station completed in 1906. Today let’s head on inside and enjoy the magnificent tilework and other interior details:
