Nawiliwili on Kaua’i was our last port of call in the Hawai’ian Island chain. Next week we move on to Samoa. Until then, here’s today’s gallery of Nawiliwili favorites:

Port 4 Nawiliwili — Kaua’i Marriott and Duke’s delectable Hulu Pie
As I mentioned on Monday, neither Ursula nor I are strangers to the Kaua’i Marriott Resort, and Duke’s Canoe Club Barefoot Bar and Restaurant. We stop by both whenever we hit Nawiliwili. Why stop at a resort at which you’re not staying? For the beauty of it all. Inside the resort is a very impressive garden, which views such as these:
There’s also a very nifty weather station on the grounds, but you’ll have to wait until this week’s Fun Photo Friday for that. Meanwhile, it’s time to move on to Duke’s Canoe Club Barefoot Bar and Restaurant.
Duke’s is a place we discovered nearly twenty years ago. We don’t really dine there. We do desert.
What desert draws us back time and time again? First, let me tell you that Ursula is not a lover of ice cream, which will tell you just how good this humongous piece of pie is. What you see below, which easily sates the sweet tooth of two people, is whipped cream, toasted macadamia nuts, and hot fudge topping a huge slice of macadamia nut ice cream pie in a chocolate cookie crust:
Fun Photo Friday will present my favorite shots from this excursion to Nawiliwili.

Port 4 Nawiliwili — Reaching Kaua’i
Ursula and I have spent some time over the years here in the Crown Princess’ next port of call — Nawiliwili on the island of Kauaʻi. Indeed, you can read more on this island on by previous articles listed at the end of this one.
We arrived on October 25, 2015, the morning after the Crown Princess departed Lahaina, Maui. The Nawiliwili Beach Park is home to a previous non-cruise destination, the beautiful Kaua’i Marriott, where we stayed some twenty years ago when we traveled here with Ursula’s father and his girlfriend. This past trip was when we also discovered that delightfully decadent Kimo’s Original Hulu Pie at Duke’s Kauai. You’ll see more on both of these destinations on Wednesday. Until then, let me just whet your appetite with a description on that desert — whipped cream atop toasted macadamia nuts, afloat on hot fudge over macadamia nut ice cream nestled in a chocolate cookie crust. And the gardens inside the Marriott hold a lot of wonders, such as beautiful tropical birds and these gold fish:
I’ll continue with both, but until Wednesday I’ll leave you with the photo gallery below:
