54 Days at Sea — Traipsing around Meteora

Monastery of Greater Meteoron (Kloster der Verklärung Christi)

Our visit to Meteora this day included several of the monasteries still in use, including the Greater Meteoron and St. Stephan’s.

St. Stephan’s Monastery

And, yes, it’s a tough trek both up and down those steep cliffs!

Just kidding. The monasteries we visited were readily accessible by bus, and only relatively short walks were necessary to get to the structures.

I would now like to take a moment to introduce you to one half of the neatest pair of people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting on any of our cruises. Pictured below is Tina Faulkner, a Future Cruise Consultant for Holland America. She is married to another Future Cruise Consultant, Thom Faulkner, who at the time of this cruise was serving with Holland America as the Cruise Director for the M.S. Prinsendam. They still serve together on Holland America ships, so if you run into them please say “hello” for Ursula and me, and get to know them. They’re a great couple of people.

Now for some more images of some of the monasteries we visited along with Tina Faulkner and others:
