The geothermal trail here at Whakarewarewa is quite impressive. As I told you on Monday, here you’ll see everything from steaming geysers:

To bubbling pools of hot mud:

And lots of color to boot:

But farther up the trail is the Living Māori Village:

And inside the village you’ll find lots of Māori culture. Here is a workshop dedicated to Māori craftsmen:

We’re going to experience in next Wednesday’s articles yet another Māori village. As for today, I’ll leave you with these additional images of the impressive Whakarewarewa geothermal trail:

We departed Napier and headed north some 278 nautical miles/320 statute miles/515 kilometers for Majestic Princess’ next New Zealand port of call, Tauranga. Here we had a long day ahead of us, for once again Ursula had us booked on a tour. One stop this day was at the Rotorua geothermal area, which is within the Whakarewarewa Living Māori Village.

Here, along the Whaka Geothermal Trails, you’ll find everything from bubbling mud pools to spouting geysers:

The springs here are alkaline chloride, which results in the stark whites deposited around them.

On Wednesday we’ll take in more geothermal sights, as well as views around The Living Māori Village area. Until then, please enjoy today’s gallery and slide show:
