Copenhagen Photo Tour — Part 3

Black Diamond (library)

Not all Copenhagen architecture consists of old buildings. There is a lot of modern architecture here, as well. The above image is the Black Diamond waterfront extension of the Royal Danish Library. As our tour boat passed by the front of the Black Diamond, I was able to capture this rather unique selfie (I’m the one toward the left side with the camera held to my face):

Another modern building along the waterfront is the newly opened Danish Architectural Center (DAC):

The more traditional views of Copenhagen will always include, of course, The Little Mermaid and colorful Nyhavn:

These images are of the Ny Christiansborg residential building located near the Black Diamond (the dark, green-topped spire to the right is part of Christiansborg Palace):

Here’s a water tour view of Frederik’s Church:

This image captures the Black Diamond, the Danish Jewish Museum, and the spire of the Christiansborg Palace, all of which are located on Slotsholmen (Castle Islet):

And, finally for today, I leave you with this view of the Frederik VIII Palace, one of several palaces on the grounds of Amalienborg, home to the Danish royal family:

Copenhagen Photo Tour — Part 2

Nyhavn

Copenhagen is awash in color. Consequently, there is seldom a reason to do a black & white conversion. Above is the famous Nyhavn area, and here’s another view of Nyhavn:

Another famous feature of Copenhagen are the many houseboats used as permanent residences:

The Kunsthal Charlottenborg is the exhibition home of the Royal Danish Academy of Art, but the wall below is what captured my interest. This piece of wall art is but one frame that uses some 3,500 life jackets from refugees:

Copenhagen is also a city of striking architecture:

The dome to the left of the photo below is Frederik’s Church:

A boat tour is also called for in this wonderful city. Here is an image of the control tower for the Knippelsbro drawbridge:

Of course no visit to Copenhagen is quite complete without at least one image of The Little Mermaid, and the boat tour gives you a unique perspective:
