By the way, if you’re reading this and other material authored by me on The Destinary website, this post was not “Posted on (fill in the date) | By destinary” as they’ve been erroneously claiming; this material was in fact reposted. The Destinary have also been claiming the right to do so, without links back to the original and without full attribution (“by RDoug” and a nonworking link is not proper attribution) with a rather bizarre interpretation of U.S. copyright law in which they claim I’m responsible for changing my RSS feed settings so that they cannot skim my material for commercial purposes. That would make reading my blog less convenient for you, which I’m not willing to do. As such, I’ll be running this little diatribe on all travel related posts until they cease and desist, along with this:

Puerto Vallarta — Walking the Malecón Area

The Malecon is a great place to just stroll the beach-side walkway, browse the store fronts, and people watch as you pass the ubiquitous bars and restaurants.

Indeed, if you look long enough and drink hard enough, you might even stumble across a flying cow.

Watch out for the occasional celebrity strolling along the rooftops as well.

Some places were still decorated for the Day of the Dead, which always makes for a fun photograph.

And of course don’t miss the side streets and the lush park toward the end of your Malecon trek.

Last Stop Before the Return — Puerto Vallarta

Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe

Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe

So, can I really find enough material on just Puerto Vallarta alone to fill three weeks and nine blog posts? Not a problem. There really is that much to both see and do.

The Golden Princess arrived to what was our last destination before returning to Los Angeles on Thursday, November 6. The cruise ship port is located just north of the resort area, which puts you well north of the very popular Malecon district.  That means hiring a cab, but make sure you agree on the price beforehand.

And what makes the Malecon so popular with both tourist and local alike? Because it’s simply the place to be in Puerto Vallarta — for restaurants and bars, shopping, the famous Malecon bronze statuary, and the exquisitely photogenic Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (Parrish of Our Lady of Guadalupe).

Today I present just a taste of what’s in store for you here in Puerto Vallarta. We’ll go more in depth on the individual sights and even visit a nice little bar/restaurant for some refreshments and a light snack in the coming weeks.
