After leaving Alicante, our next tour destination was the quaint Valencian village of El Castell de Guadalest, often referred to as just Guadalest. High atop a crag that juts upward on the northeastern side of the village sits an 11th century castle, as you can see in the photo above, and again here:
The narrow streets of Guadalest are lined with whitewashed charm with myriad stores catering to the many tourists who frequent the village:
The shops are definitely both fun and colorful:
We spent about 90 minutes here, and just wandered around town as some of the more adventurous among our tour trekked up to the castle. Here’s a sampling of the sights that await you here in Guadalest:








On Wednesday I’ll take you back to Alicante for a visual tour of the castle that once protected that major port city.
