Ecuador — Cuenca; Street scenes and buildings
Today I present some street scenes and architectural shots of Cuenca. The Santuario Mariano is across the street from the New Cathedral:
Next to the Santuario is a flower market:
Near the flower market is the Church of San Francisco:
As you can see, Cuenca is a picturesque destination with a lot going on. Below is a photo gallery/slide show of shots taken that evening:

Ecuador — Cuenca; Cathedrals and Calderón Park
We arrived into Cuenca, Ecuador, late in the afternoon on Tuesday, 16 February, 2016. This evening we were on our own, or we could choose to meet up for dinner with several from our tour much later that evening. Ursula and I decided to hit the streets on our own. We began at Cuenca’s two cathedrals, which are on separate ends of the Calderón Park. Calderón Park is named for Abdón Calderón, who fought for Ecuadorian independence.
Across from the west side of Calderón Park sits the Old Cuenca Cathedral, while to the east is the New Cuenca Cathedral. Below we begin with photos of the Old Cathedral, or Iglesia del Sagrario (Church of the Shrine) as it is known:
Below are photos of the New Cathedral, which is named Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción):
Southeast of the park, directly across the street from the New Cathedral, is another magnificent structure worthy of some photographic time. This is the Superior Court of Cuenca:
