We Interrupt Today’s Blog . . .

. . . for something totally unexpected.

I had intended to run today a review of the latest Batman movie, but fate and Ursula intervened.  Before I could put a review together, Ursula surprised me by taking me to dinner Saturday evening—a “dinner” from which we only returned late Sunday night.  But more on that later this week.

I shall endeavor to have my review of The Dark Knight Trips, Falls, and Can’t Get Up (if that’s a hint as to my impression of this picture, then so be it) up on Wednesday.  For now, enjoy some pictures taken over the weekend (and which serve as hints to where we wound up on this little adventure):

Why I Love Northern New Mexico—Part 3

Dotting this “Enchanting” landscape you’ll find old ranch homes and lonely trees framing picturesque hills.  Dry, golden grasses frame ice-covered ponds in the winter.

Walk the streets of New Mexico’s capital—Santa Fe.  Explore the Old Santa Fe Plaza.  Visit the Palace of the Governors at the right times and you’ll find Native Americans beneath its expansive veranda selling beautifully hand-crafted jewelry made of silver, turquoise, and semi-precious stones.

When one considers all there is to see and do (remember last week’s series on the Ghost Ranch?), you can easily spend a week or two to experience it all.

Now for some more photographs:

Why I Love Northern New Mexico—Part 2

Even many of the restaurants in Northern New Mexico carry on the ambiance of the region—with whitewashed walls, brightly-colored fabrics, and beamed ceilings.  But it’s the food that is the real draw.  Below you’ll see in interior of one of our favorite lunch stops—Rancho de Chimayo Restaurante and Hacienda.  It doesn’t get much more authentic than this.

The Rancho de Chimayo is just minutes from the famed El Santuario de Chimayo, considered by some to be the most Catholic pilgrimage center in the U.S.

Now, time for me to shut up and let you enjoy the view in solitude:
