You may be wondering by now where we stayed in Utrecht, and would I recommend the accommodations. The answer is that we stayed in a shopping mall adjoining the Central Train Station (Station Utrecht Centraal, and I would heartily recommend the place. It’s mere minutes on foot to the city center and canals, and just a quick stroll to catch a train into Amsterdam. The hotel was quiet, comfortable, and affordable. Remarkably so considering its prime location. Elevators were a bit hard to come by, but you can’t have everything. Behold the Crowne Plaza entrance inside the Hoog Catharijne mall:
When you’re traveling, what better location than a convenient and centrally located mall? We even grabbed a great baguette sandwich and drinks to take up to our room after walking the city center.
Exiting the mall at the east entrance puts you right into the Vredenburg Market plaza (Vredenburgmarkten) and only 525 feet/160 meters by foot from a major canal.
