Fun Photo Friday — The Summer Palace
There is another imperial site in Beijing I’ve not yet shown you. It’s the Summer Palace, and it dates back to 1750 and the Qianlong Emporer (1711-1799) of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912).
Emporer Qianong established the Summer Palace on 860 acres as a tribute to his mother Empress Dowager Chongqing on the occasion of her 60th birthday.
One of the more interesting structures is the Long Corridor — a wood-covered walkway that stretches some 2,388 feet/728 meters and which is adorned with over 14,000 paintings.
