It’s time to head inside Qasr Al Watan Palace, but before we do let’s swing around for one more shot of the tiled courtyard and one of the surrouding structures:
Now we’re back in the entry hall of the palace:
But as impressive as the entry is, looking ahead you’ll see an even larger room with a higher domed ceiling:
This is the Great Hall at Qasr Al Watan, and it is indeed great. To assist you in understanding where we are on this tour, I’m going to post this map of the interior, which I will repeat in subsequent articles on this incredible palace. Today we’re looking at Item 2:
As impressive as the entrance hall dome was, the one of the Great Hall is even larger and much more decorated. This dome measures 121 feet/37 meters across.
The dome above the Great Hall is not the only item of interest here. There are many other decorative features high overhead:
