Santa Fe—July 2012

As you know, I was kidnapped and taken to Santa Fe . . . for dinner.  But, before dinner, there were places to go, things to see, and photographs to create.

There are few places more picturesque than downtown Santa Fe.  This trip there were dramatic clouds framed against cerulean skies, balls of colorful flowers hanging from old style lamp posts, and that great Santa Fe architecture at every turn.

As for our other destinations this trip, tune in Wednesday to travel with us on the road to Taos.  On Friday it’s a return to Georgia O’Keeffe Country.

Meanwhile, until then:

Why I Love Northern New Mexico—Part 3

Dotting this “Enchanting” landscape you’ll find old ranch homes and lonely trees framing picturesque hills.  Dry, golden grasses frame ice-covered ponds in the winter.

Walk the streets of New Mexico’s capital—Santa Fe.  Explore the Old Santa Fe Plaza.  Visit the Palace of the Governors at the right times and you’ll find Native Americans beneath its expansive veranda selling beautifully hand-crafted jewelry made of silver, turquoise, and semi-precious stones.

When one considers all there is to see and do (remember last week’s series on the Ghost Ranch?), you can easily spend a week or two to experience it all.

Now for some more photographs:

Why I Love Northern New Mexico—Part 1

This week I’m going to let photography do most of the speaking.  But in short, I love Northern New Mexico for the old missions, the art communities, the scenery, and the cuisine.  I love towns such as Chimayo, Abiquiú, Santa Fe, and Taos.  I love Canyon Road in Santa Fe for its 100+ art galleries, each one as distinct and individual as is the state of New Mexico itself.

So, today we begin a three-part photo journey into The Land of Enchantment:
