Salvador, Brazil

You’re in luck.  Today it’s two blogs for the price of one. I already posted pictures a few minutes ago of our departure from Rio by sea.  Now, it’s time to show Salvador, Brazil.

Salvador greeted us with the best weather we’ve yet had on this trip. The tropical sun was stunning.  The elevator ride up the side of a cliff to the old town was stunning.  The old town buildings, churches, and cathedral were stunning.  The humidity was (you guessed it) absolutely stunning.  Being a desert rat, this damp air is a killer.  If it weren’t for ice-cold beer I don’t know that I’d’ve made it back to this internet café, let alone our ship.

As I already mentioned, we rode an elevator that took us up to the level of the old town. Saved us a fortune in tour fees doing this on our own, and the walk from the ship wasn’t bad at all.  The elevator ride itself only cost about a dime per person each way.  Can’t beat that.

From the top we were afforded some truly great views, as you will see in these photographs:

More gorgeous photos! I also prefer to independent excursions while I’m on a cruise, as opposed to the twice-as-expensive-for-the-same-thing ship-sponsored excursions.
