Sochi and Akhun Tower — One Day to Go

Akhun Observation Tower

Akhun Observation Tower

Leaving Sochi behind our guide led us to the top of the nearby Greater Akhun Mountain and the Akhun Observation Tower.  Greater Akhun reaches an elevation of 2,175 feet (663 meters).  The observation tower is 98 feet (30 meters) tall and there are 220 easy-to-climb steps to reach the panoramic view of Sochi visible from the top.

Nearby is a charming restaurant with expansive faux stained glass windows, a large dining room, and a considerable spread of food.  Unfortunately the tour did not include dining there, so I’ve no idea if the food was as good as it appeared.

On the approach to the observation tower you will find other items of photographic interest.
